Congratulations to WBD Client Croix Gear,
2018 SBA Small Business Award Winner

Croix Gear has been selected as this year’s winner for the Jeffrey Butland Family Owned Small Business Award.

Croix Gear has been in existence since 1965 and is in its third generation of family succession. Croix Gear is focused on marine drive systems and repair, until 1990, when it expanded to include full job shop gear manufacturing known for state-of-the-art technology. Sales have grown in each of the last several years with many customers looking to expand their orders.

WBD partnered with Citizens State Bank to assist with a 22,990 square foot addition to their existing building. This addition resulted in sales growth and will allow them to thrive for years to come.

With over 50 years of family owned business success passed from one generation to another, Croix Gear (Ruth Johnston and Matthew Johnston, mother and son) is a very well-deserving recipient of this year’s award. Ruth and Matthew will be presented with this award at the upcoming SCORE/SBA Small Business Awards Breakfast.
